About Bangkok RFE 2024

About the airports

Don Mueang International Airport (IATA: DMK, ICAO: VTBD) is one of the two international airports serving the city of Bangkok, Thailand, with Suvarnabhumi Airport being the other. Don Mueang International Airport is located 24 kilometers (15 miles) north of downtown Bangkok, in Don Mueang District, and is the older of the two airports. The airport was first established as a Royal Thai Air Force base in 1914 and later converted to a commercial airport in 1924. Don Mueang International Airport has since been renovated and expanded several times and is now a hub for low-cost airlines such as Thai AirAsia, Thai Lion Air, and Nok Air. And the special about Don Mueang International Airport is the only airport in Thailand that have a golf course. Kantarat Golf Course is a full-size 18-hole golf course, with all holes located in green space between the two runways (21R/03L and 21L/03R).

Suvarnabhumi Airport (IATA: BKK, ICAO: VTBS) is one of the two international airports serving Bangkok, Thailand, with Don Mueang International Airport being the other. Suvarnabhumi Airport is the newer and larger of the two airports, and is located 30 kilometers (19 miles) east of downtown Bangkok, in Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province. The airport opened in 2006, replacing the older Don Mueang International Airport as Bangkok's main international gateway. Suvarnabhumi Airport is the sixth busiest airport in Asia and the busiest airport in Thailand, handling over 60 million passengers annually. The airport is a hub for several major airlines, including Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Thai Smile, Thai VietJet Air, and Thai AirAsia, and offers non-stop flights to destinations all over the world.
